Ever wondered what goes on at a rally? Follow frontrunning Challenge driver Steven Smith and co-driver Russell Fair over two days as they contest the Colin McRae Forest Stages in Perthshire. From getting the car ready the day before the rally to collecting a trophy at the end of the season, these videos show you all the things that have to happen for the car to be able to race through the trees!
Quite a lot going on in 2010!! The big change will be dropping the 1.9 205 and replacing it with a Honda Civic class. This is a bit of a leap into the unknown for all of us but we do believe we are on the right rck and a lot of peole are following our lead. If nothing else, the sound of several Honda VTEC engines pulling 8000 rpm through the woods will be worth it.
And the good old 1.6 205 soldiers on. Some of our friends from 2009 are moving up to 4wd or BRC and some are taking a breather. But a large number will be back for more and will be joined by a group of new and enthusiastic competitors dying to do battle in the Scottish forests. And some of them are of an age that they do not have a driving licemce yet!!! So the 205 Ecosse Challenge will continue to support these newcomers and returnees.
We are also delighted to have our title sponsor Brick & Steel back with us. We really could not deliver half of what we do without the encouragement help and support that we get from John McClory. So watch out for our reliveried van. Different signs - same people!!!
And of course Hankook are on board again with Andrew Wood Motorsport doing the "standee out in the cold fitting tyres" bit. What an impact Hankook had on the whole Scottish scene in 2009 and plans for 2010 are even stronger. But at the end of the day, we must take our hats off to the product - "it is bloody brilliant". And that is from the competitors.
Competitors will continue to enjoy the benefits of registration and we have plans to develop some of our activities. The benefits include:
1.An excellent prize fund with champagne spraying and awards to winners on all events and generous end of year cash awards. We have our sponsors to thank for that.
2.Discount vouchers to be used against entry fees on SRC rounds
3.A very active Media team feeding reports to the motoring and local press plus an excellent website.
4.On event support and competitor tracking from Championship organisers with help on hand for all your problems and enquiries.
5.Proactive technical support to help you get the most from your car plus expert tyre advice from supplier and manufacturer.
6.A start of season training facility for new co-drivers (along with their drivers)
7.And last but not least, a good healthy attitude – “One for all and all for one!!”
