New Jersey’s “other” Pine Barrens: Sayreville’s Capik Preserve

Because LIRR’s track work plan kept me from going out to Long Island’s Pine Barrens, I made a trip to New Jersey, but farther north to avoid clouds. 1. WOW!! Floating solar!! Made my day!! Well, seeing the nearly-dead baby Duck my daughter, her mom and her gramma rescued from the Dollar Tree parking lot released as a healthy, female, sub-adult, Mallard Duck was actually the highest point of MY day…. but I digress, lol. No guarantee she’ll survive, but it was beautiful and rewarding all the same. Maybe I’ll do a video. 😉 Thanks and Peace!! =D

  2. Magnificent..Honestly, I think it is generous to put solar panels on the water. Not only you can save land from being destroyed, you can put more solar to accommodate more people….If our only stupid governor cared for the environment as much as we do…

  3. I always pictured New Jersey as a rather urban/industrial state it is great to see some beautiful parts

    1. Most of New Jersey isn’t like the urbanized areas people see in the North part along the Turnpike. NJ gets an unfair reputation because of what people see when they leave NYC and head into New Jersey. But much of the state is wilderness, whether it be the Pine Barrens or the Skylands. In fact, I’m pretty sure New Jersey has a much greater percentage of open space compared to Long Island and downstate NY.
