New Jersey is often associated with a lot of bad things.
The Garden State is accused of having some of the highest taxes in the country. And being too populated.
A land mostly made up of highways, yet traffic is a constant theme here.
The thing is, though, every place has its own ups and downs. And while Jersey has some pretty nasty ones, it is not short of its fair share of plusses.
Like its enviable location – it is possible to work in New York and live in New Jersey; or spend a Saturday in Philadelphia and be back home for dinner.
New Jersey is a beautiful state with plenty of shore towns and beloved diners.
Its rural farmland is a source of fresh local produce that you’ll find displayed on farm stands, albeit mostly in summer.
It is a beautifully diverse state, and a state famous for high-performing public schools, with one of the highest high school graduation rates in the country.
Here are the 10 best places to live in new Jersey for 2018:
1. North Arlington.
2. Princeton.
3. Saddle Brook.
4. Concordia.
5. Clifton.
6. Oradell.
7. Ridgewood.
8. Collingswood.
9. Chatham.
10. Haddonfield.

  1. Clifton has gotten quite bad how is it on the list lol I was born & raised in Passaic, both towns were good until suddenly it went downhill, it’s very obvious when you drive on Main Ave. from Passaic, passing Clifton to Paterson, there are hardly any jobs around you gotta travel to farther towns for employment, I had to get a job all the way in Wayne & Paramus, rent keeps going up, everything keeps going up, I’m currently getting ready to move out of the Passaic/Clifton area after almost 30 years of living here :/

  2. Are you kidding? Had-DUN-field,, with emphasis on the DUN – yes, I know I spelled it wrong. What a piece of garbage this robot narration is.

  3. 1- Homdel. 2- Colts Neck. 3- Deal. 4- Rumson. 5- Fair Haven. 6- Spring Lake. 7- Alpine. 8- River Vale. 9- Short Hills. 10- Bergenfield

  4. I lived in NJ for a few years and grew to hate it. I call New Jersey the POLICE STATE, where everyone is spying and snitching on perceived “law breakers”, who never seem to be NJ residents, but those from the big cities out of state. Add to that the outrageously high taxes that always go up about 10% each year, without any taxpayer recourse, such as a referendum. And, add to that the forever increasing amounts of regulations, ordinances, and rules, making almost everyone a lawbreaker without even the intention to be so. Liberals have destroyed every aspect of what could be called the quality of life there, if there ever was even a semblance of “quality”. I used to saltwater fish at the shore, but have gradually decreased the number of trips due to higher gasoline prices, higher boat fares, reduced catches because of more increasingly stringent catch limits, size minimums, and open seasons. Add to that, the very strict gun & ammo control regulations, hunting for bear in state park lands now prohibited by the governor. If you think you can afford to live anywhere in this state, good luck! Expect to be reported to authorities and thrown in jail and/or fined for some inadvertent failure to act according to what the Nazi types have mandated. Anywhere liberal, fascist, communist, socialist, globalist types rule, beware. The make your list of best towns to live in; you probably won’t find any!

  5. Im a njt bus driver and you missed a lot of good places, bridgewater, englewood Clift, Paramus, Edison, colonia, Westfield, cranfort… my favorite Somerville.

  6. Princeton has plenty of things to do especially in the fancy college campus and is also my fav NJ town so in my opinion, it should be number 1 instead of North Arlington. I’ve been to North Arlington once and it’s just a regular town with a few food places. The only Bergen County towns that should be on this list however are Ridgewood and Paramus. Not familiar at all with number 3, 4, 6, 8, 9 and 10. Clifton on the other hand is a bit of an upper class town. Super safe town with mansions almost everywhere and lots of fancy restaurants, especially the Allwood Diner and The Barrow House! But I still think that Wayne is the best Passaic County town because it has the most things to do in Passaic County. Especially the Wayne Town Center. So it should be number 3! Number 2 should be Montclair because it has very wealthy neighborhoods and plenty of things to do in the downtown area. Number 4 should be Parsipanny because it has a wonderful school system, very nice restaurants and very clean parks.
Ridgewood should be number 5. Number 6 should be Maplewood because of it’s wonderful school system and restaurants. Number 7 should be Newton because of it’s very low crime rate, wealthy neighborhoods and the best motor vehicle in New Jersey. Number 8 should be Livingston because of it’s town center, mall and of it’s spacious homes with lots of acres. Number 9 should be Caldwell because of it’s little town center and it’s wonderful school system. Number 10 should be Paramus because it has so much to do and has the best community college in the state. I have a few friends that live in some of those towns that I mentioned and sometimes I sleepover there houses and hang out with them in those towns. I also was born, raised and grew up in New Jersey and still live there and I would never leave the state at all! So take it from people that are from and live there!
